Privacy policy

The short version

Quire Works generates printable paper PDFs in your browser. The files you create and anything you configure never leave your device. The site is funded by display ads through Google AdSense, which loads on every page and may set advertising cookies. Google Analytics is separate: it only loads if you click Accept on the cookie banner, and clicking Decline means no analytics cookies are set.

We do not sell data. We do not run user accounts. There is nothing to email you about, and we will not.

What is generated locally, not on a server

All PDF generation happens in your browser using JavaScript. When you click Download PDF, the PDF is constructed in memory in your browser tab and saved to your device. It is not uploaded anywhere. The configuration you choose (cell size, line colour, page size, and so on) lives only in the browser tab for the duration of your visit and is discarded when you close it.

Vercel Web Analytics

This site uses Vercel Web Analytics to count page views per route. Vercel's implementation is cookieless and does not store an identifier that can be tied to you across sessions; it derives a hash from request metadata that rotates daily, so visits cannot be linked to a single visitor over time. Because it is cookieless and does not collect personal data, it loads on every page regardless of the cookie-banner decision.

Google Analytics

If you click Accept on the cookie banner, this site loads Google Analytics (GA4, measurement ID G-JY4RC1WZG6). Google Analytics is a service provided by Google LLC that records how visitors use the site so we can see which paper types are popular and where to spend effort.

With consent, Google Analytics typically collects:

• Pages viewed and the order in which you viewed them
• Approximate geographic location (country and city, derived from IP)
• Device type, browser, and operating system
• Referring website, if any
• Anonymised IP address (we explicitly request IP anonymisation via anonymize_ip)

We do not collect your name, email address, payment details, or anything you type into a configurator. We do not use Google Analytics for advertising personalisation and we do not link analytics data to any other identity.

Cookies set by this site

If you click Accept, Google Analytics will set the following cookies:

• _ga — randomly generated client ID, retained for two years
• _ga_JY4RC1WZG6 — session state for the GA4 stream, retained for two years

Separately, Google AdSense and its advertising partners set their own cookies on every page, regardless of the banner decision — see the Advertising section below. The exact names and lifetimes are set by Google rather than by us.

We also set a single local-storage entry called qw-consent to remember whether you accepted or declined. This is not transmitted anywhere — it is kept only in your browser so we do not have to ask again on every page load.

Advertising

This site carries display advertisements served by Google AdSense. The AdSense script loads on every page, independently of the cookie banner, because the banner governs Google Analytics only.

Google and its advertising partners use cookies and similar technologies to serve ads, measure whether an ad was seen or clicked, and limit how often the same ad is shown to you. Depending on your settings and location, these ads may be personalised using data Google has previously collected about your browsing on other sites. We do not send Google anything about what you configure or download here, and we receive no personal data back — only aggregate earnings figures.

You can control or turn off ad personalisation across all sites at Google My Ad Center, and read how Google uses data from sites that run its ads at policies.google.com/technologies/partner-sites.

Your choices

You can change your consent at any time by clearing this site's data in your browser settings, which removes the qw-consent entry and presents the cookie banner again on your next visit.

You can also opt out of Google Analytics across all websites by installing the official Google Analytics opt-out browser add-on.

Data retention and rights

Google Analytics data is retained for 14 months on the Google side, after which it is automatically deleted by Google. We do not store an independent copy.

If you are in the EU, UK, EEA, Singapore, or California, you have the right to request access to, correction of, or deletion of the data Google holds about your visits. Because the data is held by Google and not by us, the easiest way to exercise these rights is through Google's My Activity / Data & Privacy settings.

Changes

If this policy changes, the "Last updated" date at the top of the page will change with it. Material changes (adding a new third-party service, changing what is collected) will be flagged on the cookie banner so existing visitors are re-asked.
